Cape Town to Johannesburg 22 Dec 2017
Feeling tired...alarm said up in 4 hours...then middle of those 4 hours there is a polite whimper from Ivan next to my bed...please let me out. Then I'd locked Ella out who seems to enjoy middle of the night adventures. I didn't get much sleep and no sleep tonight. Going to be a zombie by the time we arrive in Ushuaia.
Kestern dropped us at the airport and sort an hour having breakfast in the lounge. The flight was delayed because there was a fuel spill so we had to turn off all electronic devices for fire safety. Then as we're taking off, the pilot throttles back and pulls over on the runway, revs the engines a few times and announces, "there was a warning and so I had abort take off, but it's not doing it now, so let's turn around and try again." Gulp. I was tossing up between missing all our flights and having to pay for new tickets, or crashing on take-off. But all went fine.
We are now drinking champagne in Joburg while waiting for our flight to Sao Paulo, already 2 hours late. Good thing we had a 6 hour stop over there!
