Sao Paulo, Beunes Aires to Ushuaia 23 Dec 2017
Had to smile..on the CT to Sao Paulo flight, about half way through, Roy decided he felt like a glass of red wine so he walked to the back and asked the steward who replied with..."How many glasses have you had?" :)
It's been a long flight. 10 hours to Sau Paulo airport, which like Beunes Aires felt quite old and run down. The walk between the fights was really long as we had to collect our luggage as the next leg was with Aerolineas airline and not TAM. My advice is to give yourself long stop overs between flights in South America.
We had a few stressful moments. Considering one of the main reasons for Roy doing this trip is so that he can take photos, he had rather a heavy amount of delicate equipment.
We bought extra luggage for all the flights, but icky only AFTER booking the flights within South America did it show that you couldn't but the extra bag on these at all.
Roy's hand luggage came in at 23kg!
So he got his backpack down to about 14kg by stuffing our jacket pockets with lenses :) But they were clearly weighing the hand luggage at Sao Paulo and 14 was clearly over! We choose the counter where the lady seemed nicer (letting others go ahead of us). When Roy put his heavy bag on she exclaimed "pheh, that's to the limit", smiled and let us go. Relief.
Lots of people here fly with their dogs and cats.
We had a long sleep on the chairs in the waiting area as the couch had shady been taken.
These sleepers look like Chrismas gifts.
We had a 6 hour gap in Beunes Aires but the flight has been delayed over 4 hours so far. We only realised this once we were past the point you can't go back. So this is all we've seen of Beunes Aires after being here nearly 10 hours already.

Five and a quarter hours late, after an 11 hour plus wait at the airport, we finally took off. The couple sitting next to us were from Johannesburg :)
At last we are here!
Got a taxi for 190 pestos to our backpackers in the middle of town.
The hostel is lovely. Lots of hippy young travellers speaking Spanish. We chatted to one American living in Brazil. They mostly just ignored us oldies gate crashing.
We walked around town a bit. Festive, with father Christmas and musicians, from guitars to violin to a lady singing opera. Was lovely. Lots of dogs being walked too.
We are at the restaurant recommended by the hostel. Not Mr thing...dead carcasses displayed at the entrance and the dishes were obscene amounts of meat. Suppose this is what Argentina is famous for. The atmosphere and decor was very 70s. I had a spinach canneloni which was bearable. Now to bed!
